After a little more than three months, Viria was stable enough to be discharged, and the search for a psychiatric home-care provider began. Finding a suitable mental-health nurse proved extremely difficult and was exhausting not only for Viria herself but also for her family.

During this time, I experienced firsthand what the problems in searching for a psychiatric health care providers are: A large part of the available services doesn't appear on Google at all. Some information exists online, but the search functions are inadequate or not specifically geared toward psychiatric services.

In short: Viria, her family, and I were more than frustrated. It took unnecessary time, energy, and nerves - and that's when the idea for psychispitex.ch was born! I cannot “create” new health care providers, but I can help ensure that the existing ones can be found easily. Since I have various professional touchpoints with data-driven online marketing and data science, I began researching and developing the idea. Because mental illnesses are far more widespread than society generally realizes, I quickly found support among friends and acquaintances, and things started to move forward.

In the spirit of self-empowerment, Viria occasionally contributed to profiles. Fortunately, she no longer has time for that, as she is doing an apprenticeship and has other things on her mind. But the idea remained and it has evolved: Today, a non-profit association is behind the website, ensuring the long-term operation and development of the service.
